چکیده

In the real world, people often have a habit tending to pay more attention to some things usually noteworthy, while ignore others. This phenomenon is associated with the top-down attention. Modeling this kind of attention has recently raised many interests in computer vision due to a wide range of practical applications. Majority of the existing models are based on eye-tracking or object detection. However, these methods may not apply to practical situations, because the eye movement data cannot be always recorded or there may be inscrutable objects to be handled in large-scale data sets. This paper proposes a Tag-Saliency model based on hierarchical image over-segmentation and auto-tagging, which can efficiently extract semantic information from large scale visual media data. Experimental results on a very challenging data set show that, the proposed Tag-Saliency model has the ability to locate the truly salient regions in a greater probability than other competitors. 2013 Elsevier Inc. Compressed-Sampling-Based Image Saliency Detection in the Wavelet Domain

When watching natural scenes, an overwhelming amount of information is delivered to the Human Visual System (HVS). The optic nerve is estimated to receive around 108 bits of information a second. This large amount of information can’t be processed right away through our neural system. Visual attention mechanism enables HVS to spend neural resources efficiently, only on the selected parts of the...

Weakly Supervised Top-down Salient Object Detection

Top-down saliency models produce a probability map that peaks at target locations specified by a task/goal such as object detection. They are usually trained in a fully supervised setting involving pixel-level annotations of objects. We propose a weakly supervised top-down saliency framework using only binary labels that indicate the presence/absence of an object in an image. First, the probabi...

Spatial Visual Attention for Novelty Detection: A Space-based Saliency Model in 3D Using Spatial Memory

Saliency maps as visual attention computational models can reveal novel regions within a scene (as in the human visual system), which can decrease the amount of data to be processed in task specific computer vision applications. Most of the saliency computation models do not take advantage of prior spatial memory by giving priority to spatial or object based features to obtain bottom-up or top-...

A Novel Target-Objected Visual Saliency Detection Model in Optical Satellite Images

A target-oriented visual saliency detection model for optical satellite images is proposed in this paper. This model simulates the structure of the human vision system and provides a feasible way to integrate top-down and bottom-up mechanism in visual saliency detection. Firstly, low-level visual features are extracted to generate a low-level visual saliency map. After that, an attention shift ...

Graph-based Visual Saliency Model using Background Color

Visual saliency is a cognitive psychology concept that makes some stimuli of a scene stand out relative to their neighbors and attract our attention. Computing visual saliency is a topic of recent interest. Here, we propose a graph-based method for saliency detection, which contains three stages: pre-processing, initial saliency detection and final saliency detection. The initial saliency map i...
